We are currently looking for Production Workers to join our Freeman Lumber Team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operating sawmill machinery like Edger, Trimmer, Debarker and Stacker
Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times
Continuous commitment to working safely - this includes locking out and knowing safety procedures
Follow safety requirements and maintain certifications
Inspect the machinery and products for quality assurance
Perform daily maintenance on the machinery
Handle materials appropriately and safely
Qualifications:
Experience working with a sawmill
Maintain productivity and quality while working safely
Must be able to work as part of a team, communicate with all levels of the organization and adapt quickly to change
Experience working with heavy equipment is an asset
Understand how assigned machinery works for proper maintenance and function
Problem-solving skills to detect issues and find solutions, ensuring the machinery works properly

We are currently looking for a full-time Guide dresser/Filer to join our Freeman Lumber Team. This role reports directly to the Sawmill Superintendent and will be responsible for safely performing quality work, including:
Maintain Babbit guides
Sharpen, maintain and repair both band saws and round saws
Maintain filing equipment
Sharpen chipper knives
Perform machine center checks and basic adjustments
Transport saws
Change saws at machine centers
Work with the production team to ensure highest possible quality
Other duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities:
Ensure compliance of safe work practices and health and safety policies and procedures
Must be a team player
Strong mechanical aptitude
Work with minimal supervision
Self-motivated
Ability to multi-task while working under pressure

We are currently looking for an Infeed Loader Operator to join our Freeman Lumber Team. This position will be directly responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the Infeed Loader Log Handling equipment, including the movement of logs from the yard to the sawmill.
Reporting to the Sawmill Supervisor you will:
Operate the Infeed Loader as it applies to loading and moving logs from the yard to the infeed deck for the sawmill
Conduct a pre-operational equipment inspection checklist before operating the Infeed Loader and identify any issues to supervisor that could impact production
Perform basic maintenance on equipment
Perform work in a safe manner in accordance with Freeman Lumber’s safe work practices, policies and procedures
Report all incidents, near-misses, and damage of the equipment to supervisor
Identify any hazards impacting work area
Skills/Abilities:
Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties
Demonstrated ability to work safely and promote a safe working environment in accordance with our safety policies

Education & Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years of similar work experience in operating heavy equipment.

We are currently looking for a Loader Operator to join our Freeman Lumber Team. This position operates and maintains a forklift while moving and organizing lumber and other wood products regularly.
Reporting to the Dry-end Superintendent and Chief Power Engineer you will:
Load, unload, and move products and materials
Operate equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all safety procedures and applicable codes are followed
Complete equipment checks and perform preventive maintenance on equipment
Maintain a clean work environment
Filling out daily maintenance records
Perform all other duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities:

Work with minimal supervision

We are looking for one full-time Fire Watch position to join our Freeman Lumber Maintenance Team. These roles report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for performing fire watch in the mill, including:
Performing fire inspection/watch around hot work areas at timed intervals
Identifying and resolving any fire safety hazards and notifying management of any significant action required
Maintaining a clean and safe work area, collecting and disposing of debris in assigned areas
Showing a willingness and flexibility to perform various job assignments that may change daily
Working safely, ensuring that all safety procedures and applicable codes are followed
Performing all other duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities:

We are looking for a full-time Industrial Mechanic/Millwright to join our Freeman Lumber Maintenance Team. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for safely performing quality maintenance work and repair of equipment, including:
Maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, applicable procedures, etc., to minimize the interruption to production
Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines
Repairing or replacing chains; belt conveyors; gearboxes/drive chains; hydraulics; pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools
Inspecting and investigating the root cause of failures or malfunctions of machinery to perform corrective repairs and take preventable actions
Responding to emergencies when mechanical problems occur
Reading, analyzing, and interpreting schematics, instructions, blueprints, drawings, sketches, operator/equipment manuals, etc.
Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation
Skills/Abilities:
Ensure compliance of safe work practices and health and safety policies and procedures
Strong mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with metal fabrication, hydraulics/pneumatics, refractory work, bearings/seals, welding, pipe fitting, pump repair, and mechanical repairs
Ability to read schematics/blueprints
Work with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task while working under pressure
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Programs
Job requires work both inside and outside in various conditions including heat, cold, rain and snow.

Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing/production environment
Experience working with stationary equipment as part of a production process
Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting
Sawmill experience is preferred
Stick welding ability would be considered an asset
Shift Rotation:
This position is a shift position, however our shift schedule strives to provide employees with the maximum work/life balance while safely maintaining maximum production.
Full Shift details include:
Weekday hours: 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am
Weekend hours: 5 am to 5 pm
Average hours every two weeks: 84 hours
Four-night shifts in 28 days
No night shift on weekends
Work every other weekend
Four crews on rotation, including 2 Mechanic/Millwrights, 1 Welder, 1 Oiler/Greaser and 1 Firewatch/Cleanup
Total Compensation Package includes:
Competitive wages. $25.75 -$36.40/hr. – commensurate with experience
